Solutions to frequently encountered problems.
App Won't Start
macOS: "App is damaged"
- Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy
- Click Open Anyway for Docket
- Or run:
xattr -cr /Volumes/Docket/MacOS/Docket.app
Windows: "libcrypto-3-x64.dll was not found"
Docket needs libcrypto-3-x64.dll next to Docket.exe in the Windows folder on the drive, and some drives shipped without it.
Go to docketoffline.ai/windows-fix, download the fix, and run Fix-Docket from the zip — it puts the file on your Docket for you. Takes about a minute.
Windows: Docket opens, but the AI won't load
If you see llama-server exited unexpectedly or MSVCP140.dll was not found, your PC is missing Microsoft's C++ runtime. Install it from docketoffline.ai/windows-fix (Microsoft's signed installer), restart, and try again.
Linux: Permission Denied
chmod +x /path/to/docket
Model Issues
Model Won't Load
- Not enough RAM — Try a smaller model
- Corrupted file — Re-download the model
- Wrong format — Only GGUF models are supported
Slow Generation
- Close other applications
- Use a smaller model
- Check CPU temperature (throttling)
Connection Issues
USB Not Detected
- Try a different USB port
- Use USB 3.0 port for best performance
- Check if drive appears in file manager
- Try restarting your computer
"Drive Disconnected" Error
The USB was disconnected while in use:
- Reconnect the USB
- Relaunch Docket
- Unlock your vault
Encryption Issues
Wrong Password
- Passwords are case-sensitive
- Check Caps Lock
- Try typing password in a visible text field first
Can't Disable Encryption
You must enter your current password to disable encryption.
Performance Issues
Slow USB Performance
- Ensure USB 3.0+ connection
- Avoid USB hubs if possible
- Check for USB driver updates
High CPU Usage
Normal during AI generation. CPU usage drops when idle.
